Admissions Process

Hoosac School welcomes students of average to superior ability who seek educational opportunity within a small community in which they can reach their full academic and personal potential. Students are admitted in Forms II to VI and the postgraduate program based on previous transcripts, recommendations, and a personal interview. Application should be made by mid-spring for fall entrance, although candidates will be considered during the year when vacancies exist. The application fee is $30.  Submission of the Secondary School Admission test scores is optional.  We can help if you have made, or are ready to make a commitment to your own education.

Here are four student types who
succeed and prepare for college at Hoosac.

  • 1. We provide an exceptional opportunity for bright, motivated students to grow and succeed.
  • 2. Hoosac is effective for bright, underachieving students. They have the skills to achieve, yet, for one reason or another, are not meeting their potential.
  • 3. Our OASIS program is designed for students with learning problems mild enough to enable us to provide correction and mainstreaming usually within two years.
  • 4. Through traditional structure and ability to focus on the individual, we are effective with students with poor training in their earlier education.
  • Types not well served at Hoosac are students with strong behavioral or psychiatric problems, or those who are unwilling to make a strong effort.
